metaSOFT RIS is the radiology management module of the metaSOFT platform — handling orders, scheduling, modality worklists, structured reporting and result distribution, all tightly coupled to metaPACS for image storage and the HMS EMR for clinical context.
DICOM Modality Worklist broadcasts patient demographics to every scanner automatically — manual keyboard entry at the modality is eliminated.
Template-driven reporting with voice dictation cuts report authoring time; preliminary AI findings pre-populate the template before the radiologist opens the study.
Clinical decision support flags duplicate studies and contrast contraindications before the order is accepted — saving scan time and patient exposure.
Clinicians open the full study in the metaPACS zero-footprint viewer directly from the signed report in the HMS EMR — no separate login, no PACS search.
Live turnaround time, scanner utilisation and referral-source dashboards give the department head data for staffing and capital planning decisions.
Every step from order to signed report is timestamped with user identity — providing the complete chain of evidence required by JCI, CBAHI and equivalent bodies.
Imaging orders placed from the HMS/Clinic EMR, from external referral portals, or directly at the radiology reception desk. Clinical decision support prompts flag duplicate studies, contrast contraindications, and pregnancy-check requirements before the order is accepted.
Resource-aware appointment booking across modalities (CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, fluoroscopy), rooms, contrast agents and technician rosters. Configurable slot templates per modality, priority escalation for inpatient STAT orders, and patient prep instructions sent by SMS.
Modality Worklist broadcasts patient demographics, accession numbers, and study parameters to every connected scanner — eliminating manual keyboard entry at the modality and preventing mis-labelled studies. Compatible with all major DICOM-capable equipment.
Template-driven report editor with mandatory fields, drop-down impressions, voice dictation integration (Dragon Medical and compatible engines), and image attachment from metaPACS. Addenda, amendments and consultant sign-off are tracked with user and timestamp. Reports are HL7-transmitted to the ordering EMR.
RIS and metaPACS share a single study record. Images are linked to the RIS accession at acquisition and appear in the radiologist's worklist with one click. Clinicians reviewing the signed report can open the study in metaPACS's zero-footprint viewer from within the HMS EMR — no separate login.
Live dashboards for turnaround time by modality and priority, technician productivity, scanner utilisation, referral source mix, contrast reaction rate, and report-to-signature delay. Drill down to individual studies, exportable to Excel for finance and accreditation reporting.
metaSOFT RIS is not a standalone radiology system — it is an integrated module of the metaSOFT clinical platform. The same patient identity, physician roster, insurance contracts and billing engine that run the rest of the hospital are shared by RIS, so there is no separate registration, no duplicate patient records, and no end-of-month reconciliation between the radiology billing system and the hospital's general ledger.
RIS works most powerfully when paired with metaPACS. Together they form a closed-loop imaging workflow: order in HMS → worklist in RIS → acquisition on modality → images in metaPACS → report in RIS → result back in HMS EMR. Radiology departments that already operate a third-party PACS can connect RIS to it via standard DICOM and HL7 interfaces, with a migration path to metaPACS when ready.
The tightest, most fully-integrated imaging workflow we ship.
